Question

Two trucks, one loaded and the other empty are moving with same velocity on straight road Which of them requires a greater force to stop in same time and why?

Open in App
Solution

Dear student
The mass of unloaded truck(m) is less than loaded truck (M). It implies that M>m.
Now as the trucks are moving with same velocity and they will stop in same time, acceleration of both the trucks will be same.
And we know that, Force = mass×acceleration.
As both have same acceleration, so force to stop the trucks will depend on mass of trucks and from the relation it is directly proptional.
So heavy truck have more mass so it will require more force to stop.
