Question

Two waves generated from a coherent source and an incoherent source respectively, are propagating on a stretched string.

Solution

The correct option is A Statement 1 is true, statement 2 is false
The principle of superposition is valid for all waves irrespective of their source.
However if the source of wave are coherent, then a much pronounced interference pattern is observed. Such an interference is sustained.
The interference of waves from incoherent sources is not sustained.
