Question

Under what condition the average velocity of a body is equal to its instantaneous velocity?

Open in App
Solution

  1. The average velocity is the ratio of total displacement to the total time and instantaneous velocity is the velocity at a particular time.
  2. When the velocity is uniform, it is the same at every point, that is instantaneous velocity is equal to uniform velocity.
  3. Also, for the uniform velocity, the average velocity is equal to the uniform velocity.
  4. Hence, the average velocity is equal to its instantaneous velocity when the body is moving with a uniform velocity.
