Glycosuria refers to the presence of excess amounts of glucose in urine. Generally, glucose is reabsorbed by renal tubules during urine formation. But in untreated diabetes mellitus patients, glycosuria is nearly always caused by elevated blood glucose levels.
Upto 0.25 mg/mL of glucose in urine is considered to be normal. But beyond this level (>0.25 mg/mL) indicates glycosuria.
