Any metal will reduce the oxide of other metal which lie above it in Ellingham diagram.

The difference in two ΔrG values determines whether reduction of oxide of upper line is feasible. Hence, If the difference between upper and lower line is large, the reduction is easier.
Hence, Mg will reduce Cu2O readily at 400oC.
