Question

Velocity of five particles A,B,C,D and E varies with time t as, VA=(8t^i+6^j) ms1,VB=(4^i+3^j) ms1,
VC=(6^i4t^j) ms1,VD=(3t^i+5^j) ms1 and VE=(2^i+5t^j) ms1.
Match the pseudo force as observed and specified in column I to the respective direction given in column II.

Solution

The correct option is B (A)(t),(B)(r),(C)(p),(D)(s),(E)(q)
Pseudo force comes to play, when the frame of reference (from where the phenomenon is being observed) is accelerating.
For the observation frames A, B, C, D and E, respectively the accelerations are:
aA=8^i,aB=0,ac=4^j,aD=3^iaE=5^j

The pseudo force is then directed opposite to the acceleration of the observation frame(frame of reference).
Hence, the pseudo force on A as observed by B is zero.aB=0
The pseudo force on B as observed by C is along +Y direction ac=4^j
The pseudo force on C as observed by D is along +X direction aD=3^i
The pseudo force on D as observed by E is along -Y direction aE=5^j
The pseudo force on E as observed by A is along -X direction aA=8^i
