Solution
The correct option is B (b) and (c) only The sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) were earlier called venereal diseases. STDs refer to a variety of infections caused by pathogens that can be acquired and transmitted through sexual contact.
Venereal diseases spread from an infected to a healthy individual in the following ways:
sexual contact with the infected person which results in exchange of seminal and vaginal fluids.
transfusion of blood or blood products from an infected to a healthy person.
from an infected mother to her foetus.
by use of unsterilised needles which have been used by an infected person.
These diseases cannot spread through touch or regular contact. Thus, shaking hands, hugging, kissing, sitting close to or having a meal with infected individuals does not spread the infection from the infected person to the non-infected person.
