Verify that
(i) 4 is a zero of the polynomial, p(x) = x - 4.
(ii) -3 is a zero of the polynomial, q (x) = x + 3.
(iii) 25 is a zero of the polynomial, f(x)=25x
(iv) 12 is a zero of the polynomial, g(y) = 2y + 1.

Solution

(i) p(x)=x4p(4)=44=0

Hence, 4 is the zero of the given polynomial.

(ii) q(x)=x+3q(3)=3+3q(3)=0

Hence, 3 is the zero of the given polynomial.

(iii) f(x)=25xf(25)=25×25=22=0

Hence, 25 is the zero of the given polynomial.

(iv) g(y)=2y+1g(12)=2×(12)+1=1+1=0

Hence, 12 is the zero of the given polynomial.
