Water can be made to boil at a temperature above or below 100°C. Explain.

  1. Pure water boils at 100°C at one atmospheric pressure.
  2. If the pressure is decreased, water will boil at a temperature lower than 100°C.
  3. For example at higher altitudes, the pressure is less and it becomes difficult to cook food because water boils at a temperature lower than100°C .
  4. If the pressure is increased, water will boil at a temperature higher than 100°C.
