Solution

Given,

Depth of water in a canal =1.5 m

Width=6 m

Speed of canal =10 km/hr [1 km=1000 m]

Length of canal in 30 min =306×10=5 km=5000 m

Height=8 cm=0.08 m[1 m=100 cm]
Volume of canal=length×breadth×height

=1.5×6×5000=45000 m3

Area = VolumeHeight

=450000.08=562500 m2

Hence, area irrigated =56250010000hectares

Area irrigated =56.25 hectares
