Question

Water mixed with milk is taken in beaker A and sugar solution is taken in breaker B. Light is passed through both the beakers. In which beaker the path of light is visible? Why?

Solution

Beaker A will show a path of light (It's a colloidal solution /Heterogeneous mixture). This is because it is the emulsion of milk and water which shows the Tyndall effect.

Beaker B will not show path of light. (It's a homogenous solution) Visibility of light in a mixture is known as Tyndall effect. (And the path is visible because large molecules of heterogeneous mixture deviate the path of light to make it visible)
