We often see yellow lines along with the footpath or the walking path. What is its role?

It is tactile paving. Tactile paving is basically a flooring with patterns paved on the floor to aid a blind person to walk around. These have little bumps that helps them to feel the texture of the floor with their feet and their stick. ‘Tactile’ literally means anything you can touch and since the flooring guides the blind person with their sense of touch it is called so.
