What are characteristics of protists?

Protista:

1. Most of them live in water, damp terrestrial environments or even as parasites.
2. They can be either autotrophic or heterotrophic.
3. Their cells possess a nucleus and membrane-bound organelles (eukaryotic organisms).
4. Movement is by cilia and flagella.
5. It reproduces by asexual means. The sexual method of reproduction is quite rare and occurs only during times of stress.
6. Examples: Euglena, Paramecium, etc.
