Viruses: Viruses are the non-cellular, microscopic infectious agents that are capable of replicating inside a host cell.

  1. They cannot be either a living organism or non-living.
  2. They are tiny and smaller in its size(between 30-50 nm).
  3. They generally lack a cell wall but are surrounded by a protective protein coating known as the capsid.
  4. It contains either RNA or DNA as the genetic material.
  5. Viruses can not replicate outside the host cells.
  6. It can not generate the energy of its own.
  7. Since cell organelles are absent in them, they can not perform any certain function and thus acts as a pathogen as they interfere with the host's mechanism.
