Antibiotics: Antibiotics are the category of medicines that are effective against the growth of disease causing micro-organisms like bacteria, virus, fungi and protozoa etc.
Anti means against; bio means life. So antibiotics act against the life of the infection causing microbes.
They are used to reduce the infection caused by these micro-organisms by killing them.
Examples: Penicillin, Amoxicillin, Ampicillin
