These are the cytotoxic chemical agents or drugs that are used for the treatment of cancer which selectively destroys the malignant tissues or cells in the body without affecting the normal cells.

Examples of chemotherapeutic agents are :

• Cyclophosphamide - used in the treatment of Leukemia and multiple myeloma.

• Busulfan - used in the treatment of multiple myeloma.

• Cisplatin - used in the treatment of bladder cancer.

• Oxaliplatin - used in the treatment of Testicular and Ovarian cancer.
