Question

What are colloids and suspensions
?

Open in App
Solution

Suspensions and colloids are heterogeneous mixtures. A suspension is identifiable because its particles are large and settle out of the dispersing medium due to the effects of gravity. The dispersed particles of a colloid are intermediate in size between those of a solution and a suspension.

A colloid is a substance in which microscopic particles are dispersed in a medium, but are not dissolved in it. ... A suspension is similar to a colloid except that the dispersed particles tend to be larger and will eventually settle or form sediment. Difference between Colloid and Suspension
