  1. These include the diseases that involve the deterioration of a particular organ or tissue's structure and function as a person ages.
  2. These diseases are caused due to a number of genetic as well as external factors that are worsened by age.
  3. They lead to a decline in the overall functioning of the organ which often spreads to other organ systems and affects the functioning of the entire body.
  4. Most degenerative diseases are fatal and have no cure.
