What are enveloped viruses?

The virus enclosed within a lipid bilayer is called enveloped viruses. They are made up of phospholipid bilayer containing one or more than one glycoproteins (transmembrane envelope) the major function in the attachment of the virus to the host cells and also to penetrate the host cells. Some examples of enveloped viruses are the dengue virus, influenza virus, and measles virus.
