Types of cells

  1. There are chromosomes present in the nucleus of every cell.
  2. Depending on the number of pairs of chromosomes, the cells can be haploid or diploid cells.

Haploid cells

  1. The gametes such as ova and sperm have a single pair of chromosomes and so these cells are called as haploid cells.

Diploid cells

  1. The cells of the body called somatic cells have chromosomes in pairs and are called diploid cells.
