  • They also include eukaryotic multicellular organisms and unicellular protists and protozoans.
  • They are found in every habitat from poles to equator, deserts, geysers, rocks, deep sea etc.
  • Microbes are important to human culture and health.
  • They help in the fermentation of food, treatment of sewage, fuel production, production of enzymes and bioactive compounds.
  • Eg- Cyanobacteria, Lactobacillus, Amoeba, Paramecium etc.
