A prion is a microscopic, infectious protein particle similar to a virus that lacks DNA or RNA. It is an external agent which when enters our body causes many disease. They infect the host organism, use their machinery to carry out their own metabolism. The protein that prions are made of (PrP) is found throughout the body, even in healthy people and animals.
