What are silos and granaries. Explain

Open in App
Solution

Silos
The tanks which are used for large-scale storage of grains are known as silos.

These are huge metallic storage units which can protect against natural damages or man-made damages. They also stay protected from pests due to the introduction of certain chemicals that protect the grains from the insects. Mainly the non-threshed grains are stored inside the silos.

Granaries
Granaries
are a storehouse for threshed grain and they protect the grains from pests and insects.

Granaries are the storage units which are often built on the ground to specially store threshed grain inside the sacs. Since granaries are closed spaces, it offers a controlled environment for the grains to remain free from pests and animals.
