Pituitary gland:

  1. The pituitary gland is a pea-sized endocrine gland.
  2. It is present at the base of the brain.
  3. It is also inferred as the master gland of the body.
  4. It regulates vital body activities and well-being.
  5. It secretes the follicle-stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, thyroid-stimulating hormone, and adrenocorticotropic hormone.

Disorders of the pituitary gland:

  1. The over-secretion of growth hormones causes acromegaly and gigantism.
  2. Low secretion of growth hormones causes dwarfism.
  3. Diabetes insipidus is caused by the low secretion of ADH.
  4. Lower secretions of the thyroid-stimulating hormone might lead to diseases related to the thyroid gland.
