Question

What are the 2 kingdoms of prokaryotes?

Open in App
Solution

2 kingdoms of prokaryotes are:

  1. Prokaryotes are organisms whose cells lack a nucleus and other organelles. Separate prokaryotic kingdoms with purportedly distinct evolutionary histories are called bacteria or eubacteria and archaebacteria or archaea. The bulk of prokaryotes are small, simple organisms made up of just one cell.
  2. Small, single-celled creatures are known as bacteria. Nearly every place on Earth has bacteria, which are essential to the health of the planet's ecosystems. Some species can endure situations of high pressure and temperature. In fact, it's believed that bacterial cells make up a larger portion of the human body than do human cells.
  3. Bacillus, coccus, vibrio, and spirillum are the four categories into which bacteria may be divided based on morphology.
  4. Single-celled microbes called archaea have a similar structure to bacteria. They make up the third domain of life and are unique from bacteria and eukaryotes in terms of evolution. Archaea are obligate anaerobes that exist in low-oxygen settings (e.g., water, and soil).
  5. All the substances necessary for nourishment and metabolism are present in its dense cytoplasm. Pseudomurein, which makes up the cell wall, shields archaebacteria from Lysozyme's actions.
