Question

What are the 5 major impacts humans have on the environment?

Open in App
Solution

Five major impacts of humans on the environment:

  1. Loss of Biodiversity
    1. Biodiversity loss is referred to as the extinction of several different species along with the local reduction or loss of species in a certain habitat, which results in the loss of biological diversity.
    2. This could be temporary or permanent, depending on the environmental degradation that has caused the loss is reversible or irreversible through ecological restoration.
    3. The causes of biodiversity loss are over-exploitation, habitat destruction, invasive species, and co-extinctions.
    4. Some human activities like deforestation, burning greenhouse gases, pollution, and the release of industrial gases can also upset the ecosystem.
  2. Pollution
    1. Pollution of the land and water is caused by improper garbage dumping in waterways and on highways.
    2. Air pollution is brought on by hazardous pollutants that are emitted into the atmosphere as a result of man-made industries.
  3. Change in Climate
    1. Deforestation is one of the most important causes that affect the environment.
    2. The weather in an area varies significantly as a result of pollution and deforestation.
    3. Climate change is the term used to describe these changes as they occur repeatedly throughout time.
    4. The monsoon's arrival and the air cleaning are both delayed by deforestation due to less availability of oxygen.
  4. Use of Natural Resources Inappropriately
    1. The environment is also impacted by human activity when natural resources are misused or overused.
    2. Natural resources can't all be created again. Some of them, like petroleum, require a thousand years or more to refill.
  5. Erosion
    1. Deforestation and soil littering increase the soil's susceptibility to erosion.
    2. As a result of tree removal, the soil becomes loose and is readily swept away by wind or floods.
    3. Climate change is somewhat correlated with erosion.
