Industrialisation refers to the development of industries on a wide scale in an expanse of land and region. Mechanised, heavy and large-scale industries have a negative impact which adversely affects the environment, society and economy of a country. Local artisans and cottage workers are the most affected by industrialisation. With the advent of heavy mechanical industries began the chapter of the decline of village cottage industries. Growing urbanisation also leads to crowding. City slums are developed where living conditions are horrendous. Due to industrialisation, there is constant depletion of natural resources. Large industries emit many harmful gases into the environment. The introduction of harmful chemicals into air leads to air pollution. The noises that it produces leads to noise-pollution. Industrialisation also contributed to a rise in child labour.
