Threatened species :

  1. Threatened species are the species which are on the verge of extinction in the near or far future.
  2. These species are recorded by IUCN in a Red data book.

IUCN red list categories :

IUCN has classified species into nine categories :

  1. Extinct (EX): All the individuals have died.
  2. Extinct in wild (EW): species that survive only in cultivation or in captivity.
  3. Critically endangered ( CR ): extremely at high risk of extinction in wild.
  4. Endangered (EN): high risk of extinction
  5. Vulnerable (VU): endangered and can face a high risk of extinction in the future.
  6. Near Threatened (NT)
  7. Least concern (LC)
