  4. It protects the cells and maintained their shape and size.
  5. Peptidoglycan facilitates the cell wall with high rigidity and structural integrity.
  6. Peptidoglycan is generally made of two alternating sugar units as NAG (N-acetylglucosamine) and NAM (N- acetylmuramic acid).
