Solution
Swelling and shrinking of raisins:
Raisins are dry grapes with very low water content.
When raisins are placed in pure water that acts as a hypotonic solution with more water molecules and less solute, then water moves into the raisins due to endosmosis.
As a result, raisins swell up and then these raisins are transferred into a sugar solution.
The sugar solution act as a hypertonic solution with more solute and fewer water molecules, which results in exosmosis, and raisins lose water.
