What are the differences between an animal cell in a hypertonic and a hypotonic solution?

Animal cells lack cell walls and so, animal cells shrivel up like raisins when placed in hypertonic solutions .Cell wall is very important because they keep their rectangular shape beacuase of their rigidity.


Animal cell appear more plump when placed in hypotonic solution.
