What are the disadvantages of the alternating current?
Alternating current importance:
The voltage can be modified as stepped up or down as required. It helps to reduce power loss in its long-distance transmission.
Disadvantages of the alternating current:
(1) It is highly susceptible to heating, produces sparkling, and can result in fires or electric shock. An AC shock is attractive in nature.
(2) It is dangerous at high voltages and requires insulation.
(3) It is not suitable for electrofishing.
(4) Fatal accidents can be possible by using AC carelessly.
(5) Batteries or cells cannot be directly charged from the alternating current source.
Thus, the disadvantages of the alternating current are mentioned above.
