Internal factors: The disease-causing factor when it exists within the body of a person is termed an intrinsic factor.

Diseases caused by intrinsic factors:

  1. Hormonal imbalance: The hypersecretion of thyroid hormone from the thyroid gland causes Grave's disease.
  2. Improper functioning of the immune system: Cancer, asthma is caused due to malfunctioning immune system
  3. Genetic defects: Hemophilia, sickle cell anemia, and dwarfism are caused due to genetic defects.
  4. Improper functioning of parts of the body: Heart failure, cataracts, and kidney failure are mainly caused due to improper functioning of body organs.
