Cytokinin:

  1. Cytokinin is a plant hormone that induces cytokinesis, or cell division, in plants.
  2. It controls the size of shoot meristems as well as the growth of leaves and shoots.
  3. It controls senescence by stabilising protein concentration, chlorophyll content, and chloroplast structure in the leaves.
  4. It participates in the formation of chloroplasts.
  5. In undifferentiated calluses, it can elicit morphogenetic changes.
