List out the 4 major factors and explain each of them.

Solution:
  • Age: the population is divided into 3 main age groups
    • First is from 0-14 years. This group comprises children.
    • The next is from 15-64 years. This group comprises the working population, who contributes to the economy of the country.
    • Last one comprises the old people who are 64 and above.
  • Sex ratio: it is the ratio of number of females per 1000 males.
    • In developed countries the sex ratio is in favour of females, while in the developing countries like India and Bangladesh males out number females.
    • This is due to education the women receive, toxic social norms and cultural practices.
  • Literacy level: It is the ability to read and write with some understanding.
    • The economy and social development of a country depends on the literacy level of its population. Higher literacy rate is associated with higher social and economic development.
  • Urban and rural areas :
    • Based on the density of population, amenities and development, human settlement is divided into urban and rural areas.
