Solution

Explanation: 3 Marks

Several legislative measures have been passed in India to protect wildlife. Out of the many the Wildlife Protection Act 1972 has been the most effective. Under this act, possession, trapping, shooting of wild animals as game, carrying them alive or dead, supplying their meat for eating houses, using them as a means of transport are banned and strictly prohibited.
The famous Black Buck incident which involved actor Salman Khan is a case to point. In February 2006, Salman Khan was convicted under the Wild Life Act for poaching a Chinkara at Bhawad near Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
