Main functional regions of a cell:

  1. There are three main functional regions of a cell which includes the plasma membrane, c​ytoplasm and the nucleus.
  2. Plasma membrane: This is the membrane which makes the outer boundary of the cells.
  3. It is very thin, delicate and selectively permeable which means it only allows specific molecules to pass.
  4. Cytoplasm: Cytoplasm is a viscous, transparent jelly-like substance of the cell.
  5. It contains cell organelles dedicated for specific functions.
  6. Nucleus: Nucleus controls the working of the cell.
  7. It is a dense oval body lying in the protoplasm of the cell containing the genetic material of the cell.
