The tissue layers of the stomach:

  1. The stomach tissue has four layers:
  2. Serosa, muscularis, submucosa, and mucosa

Serosa:

It is the outer layer and is made up of a thin mesothelium and certain connective tissues .

Muscularis:

  1. Smooth muscles often compose the inner circular and outer longitudinal layers of the muscularis.
  2. Some areas could have an oblique muscle layer.

Submucosa:

  1. The loose connective tissues that make up the sub-mucosal layer contain nerves, blood arteries, and lymphatic vessels.
  2. Additionally, sub-mucosal glands can be seen in the duodenum.

Mucosa:

  1. The innermost layer lining the lumen of the alimentary canal is the mucosa.
  2. In the small intestine, it forms tiny finger-like folds known as villi and irregular folds in the stomach.
