The major parts of brain are: Forebrain, Midbrain and hindbrain.

Functions of Forebrain - The parts of forebrain, the cerebrum, hypothalamus and thalamus controls the reproductive functions, body temperature, emotions, hunger and sleep.

Functions of Midbrain - The midbrain serves important functions in motor movement, particularly movements of the eye, and in auditory and visual processing.

Functions of Hindbrain - The three regions of the hindbrain, the cerebellum, medulla oblongata and pons variolii coordinates all processes necessary for survival. These induce breathing, heartbeat, sleep, wakefulness and motor learning.
