Farmers start their storage by taking the following precautions.

• The first precaution is sun-drying, where grains are properly dried in the sun to reduce the moisture in them to prevent the attack by microorganisms.
• Once sun-drying is done, farmers usually keep some neem leaves inside the sacks so that pests and insects cannot hamper the quality of the grains.
