What are the principles and applications involved in the method of centrifugation
Centrifugation works on the principle in which the denser particles are forced to the bottom and the lighter particles stays at the top when spun rapidly.
Examples are:
i. Separating cream from milk (cream comes as top layer)
ii. Used in diagnostic laboratories for blood and urine tests.
iii. Used in washing machines to squeeze out water from wet clothes.
iv. Used in preparing lactic cultures to prepare cheese (paneer) from milk in dairies.
