What are the properties of sound?

Solution

Sound:

The vibrations that travel through the air or another medium are audible mechanical waves called sound. Or the sound is the sensation perceived by the sense of hearing.

Example: Music

Some properties of sound are provided below:

Frequency: The number of cycles of periodic compression as well as rarefaction that occur every second when the wave propagates through the medium would be referred to as frequency.

Speed: Sound speed is the rate at which sound waves move through a medium.

The speed of sound varies depending on the medium, such as:

  1. Amplitude: The amplitude of the sound waves is determined by their loudness. The magnitude of such sound disruption is measured by the sound amplitude.
  2. Timbre: The attribute of timbre is utilized to discriminate between sounds of the same frequency. It must be determined by the material from which the sound is produced.
  3. Sound reflection: Whenever sound waves collide with a solid or light surface, they recover quickly into a similar medium, which is known as sound reflection.
