ABO Blood:
- Blood is the main component of the circulation system and the connective tissue that is fluid in nature.
- There are four types in the ABO blood group. They are A, B, AB, and O that mainly depend on the antibody and antigens of blood in cells and plasma.
In humans, ABO is regulated by three alleles known as IA, IB, and IO.
- Here I refers to haemagglutinin, i.e., a group of glycoproteins responsible for blood clotting.
- IA and IB are codominant, producing antigens of Type A and Type B respectively.
- They are shifted to the surface of RBCs whereas the IO is recessive, producing no antigens.
