Transgenesis is the process of the introduction of the desired gene (Transgene) from one organism into the genome of another. There are two types of transgenic organisms:
Transgenic animals
Transgenic plants
To make a transgene three steps are involved:
Promoters - They are located in a gene at an upstream position and helps in the initiation of transcription of any gene.
Gene to be expressed - It is the desired gene which we want to express in the organism of our choice. It is the coding region which is to be expressed.
Termination sequence - It is the sequence or codons which codes for stopping of transcription or translation. It helps in capping and tailing of mRNA, thus maintains mRNA stability.
