The two types of RNA are: 70S and 80S.
1. 70S: they are found in the prokaryotic cells such as bacteria. Their sedimentation coefficient lies between 64S nad 72S. The two subunits of these ribosomes are 30S (smaller) and 50S (larger). In 30S subunit, there are 21 proteins and in 50S there are 34 proteins. They have a RNA and protein in the ratio 2:1. They are comparatively smaller than 80S ribosomes.
2. 80S: They are found in eukaryotic cells such as fungi, animals, plants etc. Their sedimentation coefficient lies between 79S to 85S (80S in plants). The two subunits of these ribosomes are 60S ( larger) and 40S (smaller). In 40S, subunit there are 33 proteins and in 60S there are 49 proteins. They have RNA and protein in the ratio of 1:1.
