what are the two names by which our country is known and how did they come

Dear student,

India is named after the river Indus which flows through the northern most state of our country. This term was derived from old Sanskrit term Hindus.

Bharata was a legendary emperor of India. Since then our country is called bharatvarsa. Hence the name Bharat came into existence.
