1. The introduction of toxic and harmful substances in the water that degrades to quality of water is called water pollution.

Effects of water pollution:

1. Depletion of drinking water: Excessive water pollution can lead to the depletion of drinking water supplies.
2. Eutrophication: The increase in the humus in the water body leads to excessive growth of algae in the water body leads to eutrophication.
3. Disruption of the food chain: The aquatic food chain which includes, phytoplankton, zooplankton, etc gets disturbed due to water pollution.

Diseases caused due to water pollution:

1. Diarrhoea.
2. Cholera.
3. Typhoid.
4. Also dysentery, hepatitis A, amoebiasis, etc are diseases that are caused due to water pollution.
