• Preventive weed control: This method aims at preventing weeds from being established in a cultivated crop. E.g: By using certified weed-free seed,
• Cultural weed control: It involves maintaining field conditions such that weeds are less likely to become established and/or increase in number. E.g: Crop rotation.
• Mechanical weed control: It involves techniques that involve the use of farm equipment to control weeds. E.g: tillage and mowing.
• Biological weed control: It involves the use of natural enemies of weed plants to control the germination of weed seeds or the spread of established plants.
• Chemical control: It involves the application of chemicals such as herbicides to weeds or soil to control the germination or growth of weeds.
