DNA modification:

  1. Any change in DNA sequence or its structure is referred as DNA modification.
  2. Several enzymes which are capable of doing this modifications.
  3. DNA ligase: Ligase is an enzyme which joins together the Okazaki fragments of the discontinuous DNA strands.
  4. Alkaline phosphatase: It is responsible for removing phosphate group from the 5' terminal of the DNA strand.
  5. Polynucleotide kinase: Responsible for adding phosphate group at the 5' terminal of the DNA strand.
  6. Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase: At 3' end of the DNA molecule, this enzyme causes addition of deoxyribonucleotides.
