What differences exist in structure and functions between the inner and outer membranes of the mitochondria

Dear Student
The outer membrane of mitochondria is selectively permeable and have porins but the inner membrane do not have porins(site for inward and outward movement of proteins).Unlike the outer membrane the inner membrane have infoldings called cristae . All the proteins needed for cellular respiration ETS(electron transport system) are present only in inner membrane and not present in outer membrane.
